Happy Village International (HAVI) is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and outgoing members of the community interested in participating in programs for children with intellectual disabilities.

All volunteers will participate in orientation and training. Volunteers will then take part in fundraising opportunities and will work one-on-one with children. Volunteers will be guided under the supervision of HAVI staff.

We are recruiting for the following positions:

• HAVI Friends Volunteers

  • Volunteers will be working one-on-one with children with intellectual disabilities. Develop and nurture a relationship with paired child. Plan a variety of activities with their paired child. Liaise with staff and parents. Participate in fundraising and group activities. Volunteers are supervised by HAVI staff. Orientation and basic training will be provided.

• HAVI Friends Hangouts

  • HAVI Friends Hangouts are a great way for volunteers to get involved with children with disabilities. Volunteers will plan and lead group sessions for children who have intellectual disabilities. We welcome all ideas for group sessions including playing music, dance classes, arts n’ crafts, interactive games, and any group activity that can be imagined!

• Sponsorship and Fundraising Volunteers

  • Develop and manage ways to identify, solicit, communicate and renew donors. Plan, execute, and coordinate fundraising events including solicitation of corporate sponsorship, and manage the volunteer committee. Basic training will be provided.

• Youth Program Coordinator-HAVI Friends

  • This position is currently filled.

• Social Media Volunteers

  • Works alongside the social media coordinator to increase brand awareness through the usage of social media platforms. Create social media postings and ways to share the HAVI brand and organization. Promote HAVI and create conversation-starting posts and images for social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Basic training will be provided.

• Fundraising and Event Specific Volunteers

  • Assist on the day of a HAVI fundraising event. Help with set-up/clean-up, greeting attendees, answering questions, ushering guests, crowd flow management, sell tickets/merchandise or step in as runner/floater. Other opportunities include stage hand, photographer, and medic/CPR certified/EMT. Please note that specific tasks may change depending on the event. Basic training will be provided.

• Airbnb Experience Leaders (Mont Royal and Old Port tours)-CURRENTLY INACTIVE

  • Do you love people and adventures? We are looking for hosts to guide charitable tours in Park Mont Royal and the Old Port of Montreal. The hosts will be leading by guided tours of historic areas in Montreal. Hosts will guide 1-1.5 hr tours on selected days in the Summer and Fall. Basic training will be provided.
